2018 Honda CR-V

Worldwide trend in automotive industry is building more and more hybrid vehicles across all classes and segments. That’s why Honda’s decision to make 2018 Honda CR-V as petrol-only crossover is a bit strange. Popularity of hybrid cars is increasing, more carmakers decide to develop their own models which combine traditional fuel engine with electric batteries, and Japanese manufacturer is going against trends. Upcoming model is going to offer only one 4-cylinder unit, and it is about to be seen how fans will accept that.

2018 Honda CR-V engine

Although it is almost sure that 4-cylinder engine comes installed in 2018 Honda CR-V, we still don’t know exact specifications. Biggest favorite to take the place under the hood is 2.0-l VTEC, which could be found inside the Civic Type R car. With new CR-V, maximum output could go up to 280 hp. Last model was propelled from hybrid variant which paired electric motor to a 1.5-l gasoline powertrain. Only traditional engine could deliver around 130 horses.
Whichever option is going to be installed, it will send power through 8-speed automatic gearbox. Other option is 6-speed transmission. Company is aiming to improve fuel economy of the 2018 CR-V, so do not be surprised if crossover tops the 30 mpg mark. We still have to wait to see if it will affect performance of the SUV.

2018 Honda CR-V redesign

Not many information are known about new 2018 Honda CR-V. Exterior is getting slight refreshment, without radical moves. Some rumors say that platform could be borrowed from Honda Fit and modified for this crossover. Some elements could be carried over from Acura NSX and Civic Type R car. We’ve heard that interior will be revisited with new control panel and dashboard, giving the new look to the gauge cluster.

2018 Honda CR-V price and release date

Official info about release date and price are still unavailable. We can predict that 2018 Honda CR-V will come somewhere during 2017, but closer date couldn’t be told. Price is more predictable, since we can compare it to current model, competition and other parts. According to current data, new CR-V could be priced around $25,000.
