2018 VW Touareg

At the latest car show in Frankfurt, Germany, Volkswagen presented some new concepts which should be used for new generations of crossovers. Among these are two very popular models, Tiguan and Touareg. Other one should come in new generation, with many new features and styling. With step up from its predecessors, 2018 VW Touareg could catch attention of audience easily and make some big impact on the market. It is going to be larger, probably with three row of seats, with better performance and more economical.

2018 VW Touareg engine

There is close cooperation between VW and Audi in engine sectors. When we are talking about 2018 VW Touareg, then Q7 is its sibling and these two could get the same powerplant. But, so far, both companies are quiet about information. We know that Volkswagen is developing diesel unit, which should deliver around, or even over 300 hp. 

Further rumors are reporting about V10 unit or hybrid system, but there is no backing for these stories. However, we’ll have them in mind until company’s official statement. If 2018 Touareg is going to share something with Audi, it will be e-tron hybrid unit, with 3.0-l diesel powertrain and electric battery of 94 kW. This hybrid uses different transmission, than expected 10-speed DSG box for regular model. Hybrid is mated to a 8-speed tiptronic gearbox.

2018 VW Touareg release date

Concept of the 2018 VW Touareg could be already seen at Frankfurt auto show in 2015. Company presented a platform which should be used for new crossovers. Although it is not confirmed, we expect new Touareg run on it. Estimated arrival is predicted for 2018, but premiere and promotion should be held earlier. We could even see 2018 Touareg during some shows in 2016, but its official unveil is scheduled for next year. Since it is coming as a new, third-generation vehicle, its price is going to be reconsidered, and probably raised from current level.

Current vehicle could be purchased for around $43,000. New one, with new engines and modified styling will be over $45,000. Current turbo-diesel variant is over $50,000 and hybrid is even more expensive, so modifications on value are expected there too.
