Although it was announced for earlier months, looks like that new version of Tiguan SUV is delayed. According to new reports, vehicle should come out as 2018 VW Tiguan. To support these stories, there are some spy shots taken of the new Volkswagen crossover. Soon we could get a premiere of the concept, but production model will be presented during 2017. Sale in US are going to start after European promotion, while price is still unknown. We predict it to be around current model’s valuation of $26,000.

Spy shots revealed some details about 2018 VW Tiguan. But, heavy camouflage covered some parts. As we are getting closer to its unveiling, we will get more of its styling. Experts noticed that proportions are close to vehicles that use CrossBlue platform, so we can’t exclude same concept is used for building 2018 Tiguan.

New SUV is more sportier than before, which is boosted with lower roof and diffuser on the back of the vehicle. Inside, we can predict similar interior to a Cross Coupe GTE, which uses same concept and it was launched recently. Digital clusters, touch-screen displays and many more advanced features are expected inside the Tiguan.

Without information from company, we can give our trust to some rumors, predicting sources of power of the new 2018 VW Tiguan. Base models of this mid-size crossover are propelled from 2.-l I-4 engine. New SUV could come as a 7-seat model in some higher trims, and these vehicles could use larger engines. Some of them could be 2.0-liter TDI turbo-diesel four-cylinder or turbocharged Miller-cycle 2.0-liter unit with direct injection. Diesel powertrains are certain for US market.  The last one is especially efficient, which increases its chance to take position under the hood of the 2018 Tiguan.

It is going to be mated to a six-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while main competition is using 7-speed shifters.  Estimated fuel economy is 22 mpg for city and 28 mpg for highway drive, making it combined 25 mpg.
