2018 Land Rover Defender

It has been almost 20 years since Land Rover discontinued production of its off-roader Defender. This vehicle lived just four years, but it left big mark in the industry. Many fans have been waiting for its return which could happen soon with 2018 Land Rover Defender. Older drivers can remember its boxy look and excellent performance, while younger population could hear a lot about it. Previously, there was a Defender concept presented few years ago. Now, it seems like company left these plans and we will see something very different. However, crossover is going to keep its distinctive look and remind us on vehicle that was very popular two decades ago.
2018 Land Rover Defender redesign
We’ve heard some details about styling of the 2018 Land Rover Defender. It will get modern look with single-grille face and sharp headlights. Body is again boxy with spare tire mounted on the back of the SUV, which is one of Defender’s trademarks. There is no more confirmed information about the crossover, but we are sure it gets LED lamps for lights and few trims with more luxurious features and systems installed on more expensive models. We can compare this vehicle to latest LR4 crossover and same trim levels could be used for Defender, with entry-level SUV upgraded to HSE and Lux models. Inside, this is a five-seat SUV, which could be even larger with 3 rows of seats.

An eight-speed automatic transmission is mated to the power source and functions such as auto stop-start can shut down the powertrain to save fuel.

The 2018 Defender will go around 19 mpg combined, which is not excellent for this kind of vehicles. Towing capacity is also going to be one of the highlights, but exact numbers are unknown at this point.
