One thing was familiar, and it is MLB platform, which is going to be used for building the new crossover. SUV shares concept with A4 model, so many things could be the same and predictable.

This lightweight architecture promises weight drop and improved fuel economy. Some rumors say it is going to be around 225 lbs. Also, some features could be borrowed from  new Q7, bigger sibling from same segment. On latest spy shots, some camouflage was stripped and 2018 Q5 appeared in all-black variant.
