During 2017 we can expect a launch of the brand new
crossover from Acura. SUV segment is growing, and Honda’s branch is offering
luxurious vehicles. Although 2018 Acura MDX is going to be redesigned,
new generation of the vehicle will come after 2020. Nevertheless, interesting
changes are applied, bringing the more aggressive exterior appearance, and more
comfortable and modern interior of the cabin. On the other side, under the
hood, same powerplants should be installed, so crossover gets similar outputs.
But, modernization in body structure could lower overall weight, so weight drop
could lead to better mpg rate for new model.
2018
Acura MDX redesign
Except larger use of the lightweight materials for
body structure, such as aluminum and carbon fiber, 2018 Acura MDX will get some
more cosmetic changes. Bolder styling and new grille refresh the look. overall
dimensions are the same, and appearance is not changed radically. Bumpers and
taillights are new, and new MDX looks very powerful and dominant. Full-size SUV
gets updates in its infotainment part. New apps are added, and comfort is
boosted. Use of the elegant materials improve this impression, while you don’t
have to worry about safety since all features are upgraded.
Current engine lineup will continue to give power to
new model of MDX crossover. Only one powetrain was available for current model,
and it is 3.5-l V6. The 2018 Acura MDX can make around 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of
torque. This is delivered through 6-speed automatic transmission mated to a
earth Dreams engine. Power is distributed to front wheels, but crossover will
be offered with Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). Combined mileage is 20
mpg for default drive, while SH-AWD gives 21 miles.
Since there is enough time for upgrades, all these
numbers could be improved. It is not announced yet, but we expect 2018 Acura
MDX during 2017, although part of the year is unknown. Same story is with
price, which should be modified comparing to current vehicle.
