2018 Audi SQ5

 

After releasing full-size crossover Q7, Audi started to develop vehicles in other SUV classes. Not too much time later, after only three years, mid-size Q5 was in the market. Nevertheless, company didn’t stop there, so after four years they presented concept of the 2014 SQ5 for US market with brand new crossover. Now, since new Q5 way announced, we expect the 2018 Audi SQ5 to start a new generation with super-charged engines. Nevertheless, since Q5 was confirmed, there are no official information about tuned SQ version. Spy photographers caught something that could be mentioned crossover, but under heavy camouflage, we can’t be sure about it.

2018 Audi SQ5 redesign

Styling of the 2018 Audi SQ5 is still in shades, but speculations about it has already started. There is wide base of fans that are seeking for answers about crossover, so there are a lot of speculations around, but we choose these from trusted sources and which are the loudest. According to that, shape of the SQ5 will be the same as before, with lines very similar to current vehicle. Slight modifications are prepared for headlights and bumpers, but no radical changes are applied. Fascia is sharper a bit, on the both ends, and roof is more aerodynamic. Grille is in honeycomb shape with chrome inserts, while at the back end, rear diffuser and outlets are larger than before.

2018 Audi SQ5 engine

Under the hood of the 2018 Audi SQ5 a 3.0-l supercharged V6 takes position. Same unit is used in previous vehicle and similar output is expected with around 370 hp and 350 lb-ft. Slight improvements of these numbers should not be the case with fuel capacity. From current model’s 24 mpg combined, the 2018 SQ5 will raise to 27 mpg and top speed is closer to 160 mph. Transmission mated to a supercharged unit is a eight-speed Tiptronic and crossover uses quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Current version of the SQ5 is priced around $53,000, while new 2018 Audi SQ5 is expected to cost closer to $55,000 price mark. Some of the higher trims, such as Prestige will go over $60,000, but there are a lot costly and luxurious upgrades included in additional packages in this trim.
