2018 Volvo XC40

Entire Volvo’s XC lineup is going to be redesigned. It is going to start with the mid-size XC90 crossover. Among other SUVs, there will be 2018 Volvo XC40. This is mini crossover, which is something between hatchback, sedan and SUV. It takes best characteristics from all these types of vehicles and forge them into magnificent compact model.  Mercedes GLA class and BMW X1 model are the most similar vehicles to the XC40 and these are going to be main rivals on the market. There is plenty of other compact crossovers, but luxurious class is taking these three models most seriously.

This small SUV could look like some big sedan or hatchback, but it is not. Many lines and features will be borrowed from other vehicles in Volvo family, but overall look of the 2018 Volvo XC40 is going to be fresh, luring new buyers and causing interest of current users. Lights are revisited and both rear and front lamps will be LED, with new shape. Changes are made on bumpers and hood, while there are visible touches all over the vehicle.

Luxurious cabin of the 2018 Volvo XC40 deserves a lot more attention. Swedish company is well known of its comfort and now better infotainment improves overall impression of this crossover. Existing infotainment features will be upgraded and new installed. But, that is not all, since safety of the passengers inside the new XC40 is at the highest level.

Some of the powertrain options for the 2018 Volvo XC40 will be carried over from V40 relative. There are units of D2, D3 and D4 engines with output from 115 to 165 hp. Petrol engines are more powerful, since expected T5 unit can make 225 hp.

Torque level also varies, but XC40 won’t deliver large amount of it, and top models in this category can make around 250 lb-ft. Acceleration to 60 mph is not extremely quick, since crossover needs 8 seconds, and top speed will be around current level, 135 mph. Front wheel drive is standard and AWD is going to be available, while fuel economy numbers are not predictable, but Volvo luxurious segment is not laden by it.
