One of the following big car shows should host the premiere of the brand new crossover. It is going to be vehicle based on the Discovery Vision concept which appeared at latest car show in New York. Nevertheless, vehicle will suffer some modifications, so we expect minor changes on it. The 2018 Land Rover Discovery is going to continue with same language company is using for a while, but some parts presented on it are going to be brand new. Probably unexpected is slimmer styling of the lights on the both ends. Engine is announced and it is going to be 2.0-l V6 drivetrain.

2018 Land Rover Discovery redesign

New Discovery will keep most of the body parts and lines fans could see at the premiere of concept. Front end is very tall, while headlights could use laser technology for scanning the road and predicting the path. Also, lasers could be useful while parking in tight spots. Back of the vehicle is also getting some restyling. On the Discovery Vision concept we could see rakish C-pillar, which are similar to original vehicle launched 25 years ago.
Inside the 2018 Land Rover Discovery will be seating space for seven passengers. Materials that cover seats, steering wheel and dashboard are improved, as well as safety systems. Touch-screen display is the place where all controls are and information could be found.

2018 Land Rover Discovery engine and competition

The 2018 Land Rover Discovery is going to be propelled by six-cylinder unit as a base engine in United States. Displacement is unknown yet, but it should be based on Ingenium design and inline-six technology developed by Jaguar and Land Rover.
Other markets are getting new Discovery with 2.0-l four-cylinder drivetrain. Hybrid is possible too, but no reliable info is available from this stance. Automated, 8-speed gearbox is mated to a engine, while it is certain that 2018 Discovery is coming with AWD, standard or optional.

Competition, according to specifications are coming from German factories. Crossovers such BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE will be main rivals, while smaller X3 and GLC will face Discovery Sport  model. Performance-tuned SVX is not expected this time.
